Emily Stranger is a name that’s becoming more and more recognized in Seattle’s underground music scene and fans of hers will tell you why. It’s not just her gut-wrenchingly honest approach to song-writing, which has a way of feeling undeniably familiar to anyone who’s ever experienced love or heartbreak, but also the electrifying energy she brings to the stage, leaving her audience always craving more.

Emily’s debut album “Labor of Love” (released in 2022) is an album for “feelers”— a sonic journey leaning heavy into the turbulent realms of an anxiety-ridden mind—and relating fans have been lining up at Seattle venues to sway, sweat and pump their fists to Stranger’s unique electro-pop-grunge fusion. Notable moments include sharing the stage with Seattle indie rock favorite, Acid Tongue at the iconic Tractor Tavern and winning over the hearts of Block Party go-er’s at Capitol Hill’s Wild Rose stage.

With an uninhibited desire to dig through her own darkness and vulnerabilities, Emily Stranger’s angst-driven, honest approach to songwriting is what attracted the interest of Seattle indie label Killroom Records--founded by KEXP's Troy Nelson and business partner, Ben Jenkins.

Her collaboration with Killroom led to the release of "The Fix" EP in 2019, earning a coveted spot on the legendary Easy Street Records' list of top DIY sellers for the same year. Emily's music has since found a home on national radio stations, including the famed tastemaker station KEXP 90.3 FM.

SOUNDS LIKE: grungy synth alt-pop, infused with a heavy dose of sexual tension and interlaced with raw, introspective lyrics. Her influences, including Phantogram, K.Flay, and Mac Miller, shine through in her music, creating a distinctive and evocative musical landscape that is uniquely her own. With Emily Stranger, the Seattle music scene has discovered a powerful and authentic voice that promises to resonate far beyond the underground.

“Emily Stranger is one of my favorite local artists right now. Great voice, great production, she’s got it all.”

— Troy Nelson, KEXP
