about
EMILY STRANGER is the latest compelling electronic alternative artist to emerge out of the Pacific Northwest. The Seattle-based vocalist and songwriter describes her sound—which features trip-hop beats stacked with raw, introspective lyrics—as “moody synth-alt-pop for ‘feelers’, served with a side of angst.”
Whether she’s fighting demons, wrestling with ego, or scraping her way out of a nihilistic nightmare, the starry-eyed lyricist and vocalist behind Stranger’s outwardly-gritty allure gives an emotionally raw performance that’s hard to turn away from.
In 2015, Emily began songwriting and collaborating with music producer David Miner, and the duo swiftly dialed into their unique electro-pop-grunge sound. With an uninhibited desire to dig through her own darkness and vulnerabilities —using empathy and observation as her hammer and sickle—Stranger soon attracted popular indie record label, Killroom Records.
Stranger released her debut EP, The Fix, on Killroom Records in 2019, and has since earned prestigious airplay on national radio stations, including the famed tastemaker station, KEXP 90.3 FM. The EP also landed a coveted spot on the legendary Easy Street Records’ 2019 top DIY seller’s list.
SOUNDS LIKE: chill, trip-hop beats, baked with a heavy dose of sexual tension and interlaced with raw, introspective lyrics. Edgy, angsty, and emotionally charged, Emily Stranger’s debut LP “Labor of Love” is a broody soundtrack for the over-coming defeatist. Influences include, Mac Miller, K.Flay and Billie Eilish. If Phantogram leaned harder into synth-pop, and collaborated with Empress Of, Emily Stranger would be the front woman.
Emily Stranger’s debut full-length album, “Labor of Love” was released June 24, 2022.
“Emily Stranger is one of my favorite local artists right now. Great voice, great production, she’s got it all.”
